Dear Mrs. Cuthbertson
I want to take the time to thank you for allowing me to attend the Youth Business Connection at Rock Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, July 11-15, 2011. I was visiting my cousins for the week, and did not know they had been enrolled in the class but I am so glad I was able to attend with them.
As a college junior, the sessions taught me lessons on the stock market, how to write a business plan and start a business, and additional web sites I can use to search out scholarships. There were several guest speakers. Each brought us good information; however, I was mesmerized with the wisdom and compassion of Dr. Long. He left a lasting impression on me. I will forever remember the invaluable advice he gave the class. I wish I had been exposed to all of the information before I started college. I learned most from the session on personal finance. After we did the budget exercise, I clearly see money from a different prospective. My priority is to take care of my needs instead of my wants.
It was a privilege to attend the sessions and again, thank you.
Yours very truly,
Jasmine S. Amos

Dear Mrs. Cuthbertson,
I am so glad I attended the Youth Business Connections classes last week. You discussed many things I had never been exposed to before. Those five days were packed with information. I particularly enjoyed learning about stocks and how to handle my personal finances. I have a little money put away and I plan to purchase one share of stock and reinvest the dividends to see how it will perform. I now know how to follow that share. Dr. Lem Long’s presentation was awesome! He shared with us, some of his life story of how he used a little money and a lot of integrity to build a successful business. Thursday’s bike field trip was a great activity. I am still talking about some of the amusing things that happened on the trip, especially my two “wipe-outs.” The funeral we had for certain misused words, will stay with me for the rest of my life
Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity.
Sincerely,
Sarah Bridges,
Rising sophomore

Dear YBC:
Thank you for creating this camp and I enjoyed everything.! learned a lot about stocks and bonds. My favorite part was the cupcakes business and teaching us the skills of cake decorating and how to mix colors. I enjoyed the speeches. My speech was about optimism. I can’t wait to come back next year to learn more. I plan to come back next year and tell all my friends about this camp. Thank you a lot, A Satisfied Camper.

Dear Mrs. Cuthbertson:
I really enjoyed YBC camp. I haven't attend the last few years, but I am glad that I came this year. I really liked going through the different slide shows and being a contestant in the essay on optimism. The camp was really great and I like the way the camp was at church and included God.
I learned a lot about stocks and how you need to know the ticker symbol in order to by stocks. Also, I learned about personal and house hole expenses in life when Rev. Floyd gave a presentation on good stewardship in church and in life. All of us had a great time with this presentation and I like the way he involved the student and taught us at the same time.
Mr. Smith had a great presentation on stock and bonds. I can’t forget how much information he provided. I just wish more people could have attended. This is a great learning experience and many people could have benefited from it. We have created our won business website that anyone can see. We also visited Dr. Long’s business and he told us how he started his business over 67 years ago. Thank you Mrs. Cuthbertson—What a great experience! Sincerely in Christ,

Christian Cooper … I like the camp because it was fun. We got to use the computer to buy stocks, and create a website. I will miss all the new friends that I made during the camp, but I plan to share my website with all my old friends.
Thank you for the camp.

My favorite part of camp was creating my own business. It was really fun because I got to create my own amazing website. So now I am able to design a site myself. I have shared my website address with my entire family.
